NBBC - Yarrawonga Easter Bowls Tournament - Expressions of Interest by 29 January
The annual trip to the YARRAWONGA EASTER BOWLS TOURNAMENT is on again this Easter (18 to 21 April 2025 inclusive). We normally have around 20 bowlers and a half dozen or so who come just for a holiday!
If you are interested, please email Mike Johnson by 29 January advising which days you want to bowl (and how many games if you don’t want to play all day). Whilst this is sometime before the tournament, entries get filled very quickly – especially the pairs on Friday, and there is a maximum of 30 teams.
BOWLS
There are 4 days of bowling at Yarrawonga Bowls Club over the Easter weekend - Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. There is no need to play every day – we can change the teams for each game, so you can just play part of a day, one day, a few days or all days if you want to. I will organise teams and register once I get everyone’s expression of interest (and payment!).
- Friday (9.30am start) Affiliated open pairs (various formats) – 3 games x 10 ends, 1 game x 15 ends
- Saturday (9.30am start) Affiliated open two bowl triples – 4 games x 12 ends
- Sunday (12.00pm start) Affiliated open pairs (2-4-2 format) – 2 games x 12 ends
- Monday (9.30am start) Affiliated open 2 bowl triples - 2 games x 12 ends, 1 game x 10 ends (so the finish will be earlier than in previous years when there were 4 games).
Entry is $12 per individual for each event, with good prize money ($5000 in total across the 4 days). The competitions are played on 2 synthetic greens - they are fast! You can purchase a 2 course lunch at the Bowls Club on Friday, Saturday and Monday.
You can find full details of the tournament on Yarrawonga's Facebook page.
ACCOMMODATION and MEALS
Bring your partner as we will arrange dinner each night at various places (probably 2 pub meals (Yarrawonga Hotel and Burkes), Stonegrill and
Accommodation gets booked very quickly, so if you want to go you should make accommodation bookings now – most places allow you to book with no deposit and the ability to cancel for free close to the date. (I have booked the Motel Yarrawonga, but assign rooms on the basis of who has been to the tournament the most times – I will let people know if they qualify once I get responses back).
I have listed 4 sites below which you can visit to organise accommodation. Find accommodation which can be cancelled without loss of any money in case we can fit you into Motel Yarrawonga, or accommodation that you can book now and pay later. Central Yarrawonga Motor Inn and Burkes Hotel are popular and normally have free cancellations, so best to book now and cancel later even if you are undecided at this stage.
Please let Mike Johnson know asap if you are interested in sharing a room with some others (same gender in each room!).
