Open Super Vet Championships

The 2024/25 Open Super Veterans Singles Championship will be conducted on the following days

  • Day 1 Thursday 27 February 2025 - commencing 10:30 am: Players will be randomly selected to play two games of 4-bowl singles over 10 ends against different opponents.
  • Day 2 Thursday 6 March 2025 - commencing 10:30 am: Players will be randomly selected to play two games of 4-bowl singles over 10 ends against different opponents to those on Day 1
  • Day 3 Final – Thursday 13 March 2025 - commencing at 10.30 am: The Finals game will be played over 15 ends to determine the winner and runner-up. The two participants will be the two best performing players based on the aggregate of results obtained over days 1 and 2 — points scored for wins (2), draws (1) and losses (0), aggregate shot difference, then percent shot difference (shots for ÷ total shots x 100).

If a player fails to complete a given game during Days 1 or 2, the failing player's aggregate will be derived from the games completed by that player. The non-failing player's aggregate will be derived from the completed games plus a virtual game result derived by averaging the completed games.

Conditions of play will be as for the Melbourne Metropolitan pennant competition, including:

  • Entrants must be aged 80 or more years on Day 1 of the Competition
  • 2 trial ends with 2 bowls per player before the first game only on Days 1, 2 and the Final
  • If necessary, a one-or-more-end tie-break will be used to determine the outcome of the Finals game

For those that qualify for this tournament, within 24 hours you will be sent an invitation by email to enter. A facility will be available to accept or decline.

CLOSING DATE OF ENTERING IS 5pm Tuesday 25 February 2025
Depending on the number of entries, and therefore number of games to be played over the two preliminary rounds, we are also looking for other members on those first two competition days to assist as markers for each game. If you are available on either day, please contact either Peter or Terry or by email to nbbc1947@gmail.com or Peter on 0448 225 557 or Terry on 0423 666 306.
