Harold Brennan Bowls Event

The Harold Brennan Bowls Event is held to determine the best rink in each of our sides that play on Weekend Pennant.

The event will be held this Sunday 16 February, starting at 12.30pm. Dress is club uniform.

Harold and Cora Brennan were long time members of the Club and left a bequest in perpetuity to cover the costs of the day for prizes, afternoon tea etc. It was Harold's idea that whilst a side might perform well (or average) overall during the season, there should be some recognition of the best team within a side. The Event has been going for some 40 years so we are extremely lucky, and very grateful to the Brennan family.

The teams for the event are those selected for Weekend Pennant on this Saturday's round. It is likely that there will be members of a team that play this Saturday who cannot play on the Sunday so we will source top-up players from those bowlers who only play Midweek Pennant.

The format of the competition is that the four teams in each of our four sides play each other over 7 ends per game. Pennant day rules will apply with no dead-ends and the jack will be re-spotted on the centre 2 metre dot.

With the Fourths Side only playing with 3 rinks each week, we hope there are enough Midweek players who put their hand up to make up a fourth team so that the side can have the same competition format that applies to our other three sides.

If you are unavailable for Sunday, please immediately either:

  • text Peter Sexton on 0448 225 557 with your name & a 'No'  or,
  • put your name on the unavailable list or the notice board in the clubrooms

Our selectors need to start selecting teams and Sue Stephens needs to know the numbers for catering in the next day or so.
